On 22 and 23 October 2009 the US HSR and Europoint will organise this conference on high speed rail in the JW Marriott Hotel in Washington DC.

Due to Europoint’s experience in organising high speed rail events in the past such as Eurailspeed 2005 in Milan, Italy and UIC HIGHSPEED 2008 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, the US HSR has contacted us in order to help them setting up this event. Both former high speed events were organized on behalf of the International Union of Railways (UIC) based in Paris, France.

This conference clearly comes at the right point in time given the priority of the theme high speed rail in the United States. Following President Obama’s recent announcement of a new era of high speed rail in America, US HSR was formed to help advance this visionary initiative. President Obama’s initiative lays the foundation for a sustainable transportation future for America. Recently the US House of Representatives Committee on Transportation and Infrastructure unveiled legislation whereby it would provide $50 billion over six years for planning and development of high speed rail in designated corridors.
