Submitted on: 03-07-2009 Is the recession also affecting the railway sector? Lower economic activity will no doubt also have some effects on this sector although fortunately at a much lower pace.
On the other hand the authorities think of carrying out new or advance already existing infrastructure projects as one of the measures to keep up employment as much as possible. We should not be pessimistic in the rail sector. There are lots of opportunities. Billions are still invested in this sector, particularly in China and India but also in Europe. President Obama announced plans for new and accelerated investments. Perhaps against this background recently the Unites States High Speed Rail Association has been founded. Is this marking the beginning of real High Speed Rail in the United States?
